Can I talk to you about something sensitive?

Discussion Starter

If you want to talk to someone about sex and sexual health but you don’t know how to raise the topic, the question above is something you could try to start the conversation.

But before you ask this, it is important to work out who the right person to speak to about sex will be.

Ask yourself who in your life you feel comfortable talking to about sensitive issues. These people might be friends, family members, teachers or health workers. This is a sign you trust them, and they might be good people to speak to about sex.

It is also important to think about where you can get accurate information from. Sexual and reproductive health services and organisations should provide accurate information, but try to find ones that are youth-friendly. If you are gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse or queer, try to find LGBTQ-friendly organisations or services. And remember, Be in the KNOW also has you covered.
